Great way to find recipes, including searches by ingredients. For instances, if you have lots of zucchini in your garden and want recipes, you just type in "zucchini" and get back a list of great recipes. Or, if your child is doing a research paper on "Pioneer Recipes" or some ethnic foods, it's an easy way to find what you need.

At first glance, About.com (a.k.a. Miningco.com) seems no different from other sites offering resources on topics like art, entertainment, business, finances, health, travel, etc. But here’s what sets it apart: About.com has real live "guides," with names and e-mail addresses, dedicated to each topic. I was planning a trip to Italy and couldn’t find some specific information, so I went to this site and asked the Italy guide (yes, they’re that specialized).
