Are You Related?
I recently discovered a very cool little tool on my Netscape Navigator.
At the end of the location bar, where you see the Web address, is
a little button named What's Related. What this is supposed to do
is take the site you're on and come up with a list of comparable,
or related, sites. Wow, what a great idea kind of like a
Search Directory built into the browser.
Now, before I get your hopes up too much, this works best on the really big sites. But it has some very interesting features. Try this. Go to Ford Automobile's site, http://www.ford.com. Now, clicks on What's Related.
You can research Cars, Trucks, and SUV's, get a stock quote or
the latest news, go to Netscape's directory, or go to related sites
like Buick, Chevy, GM, or even the Kelley Blue Book.
The little nugget that I like best is the Site Info for the www.ford.com
tab. Point your mouse at it. It tells you who owns Ford, when the
site started, site ranking (in the top 1,964 sites), how many pages
in the site (220) and how many links (over 16,000) within the site.
In all, it gives a pretty interesting snapshot.
